Winners of the Colleen Jones Award for 2006
Adele Cahill, Head of Procurement & Supply Chain, North Glamorgan NHS Trust discusses how she felt when she found out she had won the Colleen Jones Award.
Winning the Colleen Jones Award was a great honour, and one that secured me a sponsorship on the NHS Procurement Leadership Programme.
The Leadership Programme has provided an excellent opportunity to improve and enhance my leadership skills, and given me the chance to network with colleagues in similar roles across the wider NHS. It has provided entertaining and interactive sessions, challenging my working assumptions and perceptions and developing my knowledge on how to nurture novel ideas and assist in thinking outside the box. It has allowed me to recognise how I should act and perform as a leader, and has also opened my eyes as to how I may need to adapt to working in certain circumstances with others, both within my team throughout North Glamorgan NHS Trust and further afield.
On a personal note, the Programme has provided me with the ability to recognise that, if you have the drive, enthusiasm and passion, you will become successful at making change happen.
I am very pleased to have been given this opportunity, and will ensure that the skills I have learned are used to help me deal with the ever-increasing challenges facing procurement over the next few years.
